Hi! Welcome to Lyla Clayre Studio. I am a watercolor artist who is passionate about feminism, environmentalism, and social justice. I love to paint outside and observe and absorb the beauty I see in architecture, nature, and the human form.
I was raised in Northern California and attended Waldorf schools from pre-K through high school, which has had a huge impact on my way of living and laid the groundwork for my career. I earned a BFA in Illustration from California College of the Arts class of 2014. After living in New York City and San Francisco, I have made New Orleans my home. The architecture and tropical beauty is endlessly inspiring, and the culture supports local artists in a unique and wonderful way.
My watercolor paintings are made almost exclusively on location around New Orleans. All prints are made in my studio in the back room of my shotgun house in St Roch.
