MEET THE ARTIST
Lyla Clayre is an award winning plein air painter with a lifelong passion for watercolor. Her early education was in the Waldorf curriculum and she received a BFA in Illustration from California College of the Arts in 2014. After graduating she moved from San Francisco to New Orleans and focused on plein air painting, capturing the historic architecture in a distinct style.
For 9 years she exhibited extensively in New Orleans, participating in group shows and appearing at arts markets and festivals. Her first solo show was held at SALON in August of 2019. In 2021 her brick and mortar shop Lyla Clayre Studio opened in the French Quarter.
Her illustration clients include Tulane University, Ochsner Medical Group, Scriptura, Century Girl Vintage, Leah's Pralines and more.
Her studies continue as she returns to figurative oil painting and pursues an MFA at the New York Academy of Art, joining the class of 2025.
In the meantime, her studio on Chartres Street remains open offering original paintings, fine art prints and stationery.
